Me, myself, a lens and some flashes

For our portrait photography course we had to shoot a self portrait. I had this idea about shooting myself through a lens so worked this out. It proved not that easy but, you live, you learn and I learned some

DIY “ProKit” Flash modifiers / mini softbox including template

Yes, another “I-wish-I-had-that-idea” moment when I saw these little offcamera flash softboxes. Ideal for strobist activities but too expensive for my liking. (yes, call me dutch but hey, I am) Also I already had the small grids. No worries, all

Monopod lightstand conversion DIY

Added another piece of gear to my collection: a simple monopod. Also for use as strobe on a rope at weddings. But, out of the box just doesn’t cut it for me. 😉 So what to do with a monopod?

Another DIY grid, but less DIY this time

I got some sheets of honeycomb from saxonpc, which is actually not real honeycomb but looks more like glued straws. Only these are way more solid than my own glued straws so I’m pretty happy with this. Fairly simple: just

Yes, dear friends, I have switched to the dark side! Well, at least, a bit. I have bought myself a nikon light saber flash. It’s an SB28, they usually go for around 100 euro’s but this guy had dropped it

shooting Nieuwegein for Mitros

I was asked by Mitros to shoot for their 10 years anniversary a series of photographs on the seventies areas of Nieuwegein. These are very different, some very green and some very gray. These will be used at a conference

Warning on the DIY SLA’s

Okay guys, DIY-ing is fun, I admit but it can be dangerous. I made the DIY packs and recently fried one of my flashes 🙁 I had put the connectors to the battery on the wrong way! mmm… what’s that
